Per-Vehicle vs Flat-Rate Dispatch Pricing: Which Costs Less at 10, 30 and 50 Vehicles
Is per-vehicle or flat-rate dispatch pricing cheaper?
Per-vehicle pricing wins below roughly ten vehicles and for fleets that shrink off-season. Flat banded pricing wins above that and makes budgeting predictable. Commission pricing is cheapest only at low volume and becomes the most expensive model once you pass a few hundred jobs a month.

Why the model matters more than the headline rate
A $25 per vehicle price sounds smaller than $399 a month, and at eight vehicles it is. At thirty it is nearly twice as much, and it punishes exactly the growth you are working for. Always model your pricing at the fleet size you expect in eighteen months, not today's.
Seasonal fleets are the real exception
If you run forty vehicles for wedding and prom season and twelve in February, per-vehicle pricing can genuinely be cheaper across the year. Ask whether the vendor bills on peak or average, and whether you can scale down mid-contract without penalty — many will not let you.
Commission pricing, honestly
- Cheap while you are small, and it removes upfront risk
- Becomes your largest software line at scale
- Makes low-margin account work less viable
- Can be reasonable if the platform genuinely supplies you with the bookings
